"I’m a 71 year-old male retired, aerospace engineer, and have dealt with, and developed an ability to recognize intelligent people in my 40 years of professional experience. In my opinion, Dr. Johnson is one of the most professional and astute maxillofacial oral surgeons you could ever engage with. He has 30+ years of knowledge doing sinus lift / bone graft surgeries in areas where you have lost a tooth or multiple teeth. I broke my number 14 molar on a hard kernel of popcorn. It was split through the floor and could not be repaired. So it had to be extracted. Dr. Johnson did the extraction and at that time also placed bone grafting material into the socket. It took well and after five months of healing a second set of x-rays showed that there was still not enough bone material to accept a titanium implant. So a surgery was scheduled to place a bone graft above that location, which required also lifting my right side sinus. I’m writing this 30 hours after the surgery. Apparently the pain level is supposed to increase with the peak estimated to occur at 48 to 72 hours. So far I have only Very-Low levels of pain. I have no swelling or bruising. I do have some stitch, free ends, sort of dangling, but they cause no irritation or nuisance. I have been able to eat soft foods- eggs, applesauce, yogurt, iced coffee, pudding and homemade ice cream, etc. I’m also drinking plenty of water, diluted Gatorade, diluted pomegranate juice. I feel great. I’m careful to keep my head elevated and not do any bending over to cause blood rush to my head. I’ve had virtually no bleeding. Sleeping on my back with two pillows under my head to keep it elevated. It’s going so well that I’m planning to go for an easy 2 mile walk this evening, just 36 hours after the surgery. I cannot recommend Dr. Johnson and his support staff highly enough. Knowledge matters. Experience matters. He is an expert in the strictest definition of the word. I’m scheduled to-return next Monday for a stitch pulling session. Looking forward to it. In a few months after I’m totally healed, a new crown will be attached to the titanium stud, completing the tooth replacement. If you’ve lost a tooth, I recommend you see Dr. Johnson."
"Getting oral surgery for a dental implant isn't really something anyone wants to do, but this is the place to have it done.Dr. Johnson is incredibly gentle and he's fast! He and his lovely staff have you in and out quickly with a minimum of pain.I'm so glad my dentist referred me to him!It's been a breeze!"

"I have to report on the very thorough job Dr Johnson did explaining to me what my impacted wisdom tooth extraction would entail, the recovery process and length, how to handle any problems that might develop afterwards etc. His office also gave me a folder of instructions to refresh my memory and a suggested list of food to eat after surgery. Everything went smoothly the day of the surgery and I had no pain or even discomfort afterwards. I had no complications despite the difficulty of the extraction. It turned out to be a very pleasant experience with a wonderful caring staff to answer any follow-up questions. "I have had, counting this time, 2 teeth removed that 1 was cracked all the way down the tooth to root end, removed by Dr. Bird (90's)and #2 removed by Dr Johnson. (2024) I was sedated both times and when I came out of it was told all went well and to go with instructions till follow up and did this. 90's tooth was a breeze and no problems at all! Second tooth all was well( Broke tooth under Crown) with it too. Both Dr. and there are great at what they do and after listening to others people used this was a no brainer! Tech's Jessica & Ashley were real good at helping with assisting both Dr.s I had a few bone chips come through on first one ( This is normal especially if tooth is damaged bad. 2nd tooth will take longer as I am an old guy now and we heal slower. My advice is Dr. Jay A. Johnson. Professional , explains everything in detail to assure you of what will take place and the sedation was great for if you want or as with me he stated I needed to be and I totally agreed. Came out of sedation quickly and was on my way home to recuperate. Not only are they great at Oral Surgery but pricing was nearly 1/2 of what most people were charging huge $$$ for sedation. So if you need wisdom teeth or facial surgery Dr. Johnson is the man to see!"
"My wife is a patient of Dr. Johnson, and she absolutely loves him. He exudes self-confidence, and continually reassures his patients throughout the procedure. His assistants are very caring. I received succinct instructions following my wife’s tooth removal from one of his assistants, and she personally wheeled my wife down to the office of our dentist (in the same building), as my wife had been under sedation. My daughter had her wisdom teeth removed on 5/10/22 and she was anxiety ridden and terrified of the upcoming procedure.Dr. Johnson and his staff went above and beyond to accommodate her and make her feel at ease. "It is hard for me to find the right words to describe how incredible Dr. Johnson is. He and his entire office showed only the most compassionate, reassuring, and informative care. What started out as a lot of nerves for a simple surgery that was long overdue, ended as a shocking cancer diagnosis. He was the surgeon that had to break that news to us and he stayed after office hours to sit with my husband and I to discuss and answer questions, as long as we needed him with us. He handled this sensitive conversation with the most grace and compassion and for that we are forever grateful. My wisdom tooth removal surgery at 39 was a breeze: quick procedure, no infections, very limited pain, limited swelling, and successful, complete healing. "I had to have 2 wisdom teeth pulled. I over 50, and they needed to be removed.. I have never had any type of surgery before, so I was a little nervous. I was sedated, and I didn't feel a thing. Even after the surgery, my pain was very minimal. I never had to take the pain medication. Pre/post operative instructions were very clear. I will go to Dr. Johnson for all my oral surgery needs."

"I had a sinus lift and implant put in yesterday. I followed directions and other than taking some Advil and Tylenol only to stay ahead of any pain, it has been far better than I anticipated. I have not had to take any prescription paid medicine. I would highly recommend Dr. Johnson to do any oral surgery you need."

"What can I say. Lol finally getting around to writing this review. I had a very scary case of an upper wisdom tooth, with another tooth growing in the front of it. I must say in the beginning it was a bit awkward with the idea of having to sign a waiver for anesthesia so quickly, but Dr. Byrd was only trying to get everything rolling ASAP. I've never had to be put out for anything in my life, so all this was slightly off putting to me. Anyways... I opted for the local novacaine, because , ney on the sedation lol. Let me repeat myself, Dr. Byrd and his assistant are freaking MASTERS! When it came to the day of surgery, 3 or 5 novacaine shots later, everything went buy within like 20 minutes I swear! It's just remarkable because I've never had to have stiches, and they even stiched it all up with no feeling at all! They know what they are doing! Even Dr. Byrd reassured me wisdom teeth are a piece of cake for him, and he's right! He's just and old soul, and likes to get right to it lol don't let any of that make you feel off. This was my first time with Dr. Byrd's office. The price was amazing! The office is nice, it's small, and yeah not the Ritz or whatever, but everything else shows when it comes time to get stuff done right. The staff were all great too, nobody seemed like they hated their job, and they went above and beyond if I had questions as I had quite a few. Bottom line , this was a definite essential need to my oral situation, and super value at that. They even sent me a get well card ;) try one of the most , if not THE most experienced oral surgeon in Brevard Dr. Byrd"
"Woke Up in the middle of the night with extreme jaw pain. After hours of taking ibuprofen and still in pain I'm thinking this has to be exposed nerves as several my teeth were aching or taking turns aching. My dentist felt that my wisdom tooth was the cause and gave me 3 referrals for my selection of an oral surgeon for tooth extraction. I did my google research and selected Bird and Johnson, oral surgery and I'm happy that I did. The front office gave me an appointment to see Dr Johnson that afternoon, upon arrival the office staff was very professional and kind, I was surprised that I saw the doctor almost immediately and didn't have to sit in the waiting room for ever, I was impressed and amazed by Dr Johnson! He gave me a lot of time and actually listened to me as I described my symptoms and quizzed me for more info, and then he did a mouth exam that was quick and painless. After our consultation Dr. Johnson felt that my teeth were not causing my issues but it was most likely a nerve problem and that I should wait 2 weeks for an improvement. Wait and see where it goes - No surgery scheduled. I feel very fortunate and that I made a good decision in selecting Birds and Johnson. A Good doctor who actually listens and acts in your best interest!!!"
